California State License Board (CSLB) was spending too much on IT, because of the hundreds of employees CSLB employed in offices geographically dispersed around the state. They needed to implement a solution that reduced desktop IT support costs.
Direct Technology assisted in the design, development and implementation of a remote access solution for thin client computing. Productivity applications were hosted remotely in a centralized location and served up to the employees using a simple internet browser. Direct Technology managed the infrastructure for a time and provided knowledge transfer to the CSLB IT staff. IT desktop support costs were dramatically reduced. Each employee required only a web browser and internet connection. The new and upgraded desktop applications were loaded once on the centralized server and became immediately available to employees. The CSLB IT staff was able to spend time and effort on other projects.
