Direct Technology is supporting the California Department of Technology (CDT), Office of Technology Services (OTech) to modernize its application hosting capability by expanding virtualization and enhancing its AIX/LINUX open source server operating system service in a virtualized environment. We are also supporting the modernizing of OTech’s application hosting service to virtualize the AIX service. Direct Technology is managing both projects including the deliverables, the contract, and change management.
Direct Technology is supporting the Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System Conversion (SWITRS) project aiding CHP to design and build a web-based system with C# and SQL and migrate the SWITRS from an Oracle-based system. The project requires recreation of the database in SQL, migration of all data, as well as the creation of a web-based user interface application and reports.
At the end of this engagement Direct Technology expects that:
The CHP staff will be fully trained on the new application and database. They will be provided a thorough documentation package for the new application and database including design, implementation, maintenance and support documentation.
Direct Technology was engaged to provide an IT Infrastructure Audit and aid SACOG in creating a roadmap for the necessary fixes. We provided a team of two people: a Project Manager and a Technical Lead. After the audit was completed, our team crafted a comprehensive and extremely detailed report that included the findings of the audit, strategic themes for infrastructure improvement over several years, and exhaustively researched recommendations, including specific parts, services, and prices, that would elevate SACOG’s function, disaster recovery efforts, and performance efficiency to a much higher level. This project is ongoing; currently, we are creating an official roadmap with the client to map out the most vital changes, and devising next steps for implementation. Replace core and access switches with HPE/Aruba, as well as replace existing firewall with Palo Alto Networks. Working on the Nutanix migration now.
CPUC engaged Direct Technology to design foundational SharePoint-based architecture and develop a plan for future expansion of SharePoint across the enterprise systems. Our architect developed the production instance of SharePoint for use in the current and future phases of SharePoint work and knowledge transfer for CPUC staff in the relevant configuration and administration tasks necessary to support SharePoint going forward. The effort included business analysis and requirements gathering, implementation and configuration of Microsoft products, maintenance and troubleshooting, and training CPUC staff to comfortable manage the new system.
LDC hired Direct Technology to evaluate the current APEX POC and determine if to proceed with expanding the current POC or start with a fresh APEX application.
The project engagement was to migrate and expand the existing MS Access application to an APEX 5 .1 application. The new application will retain previous information and expand to allow district office to request work online. Also the new application will import 15 years of historical data into the system. We worked LDC DBA to set up test and production APEX environment and 12c database. We designed and developed an on-prem application which included: 1) Online submittal form for District Offices to submit work requests; 2) Ability to create reports with stored data; 3) Setup Active directory Sign on; 4) Migrate historical data to new application; 5) Create security roles that allow selective access to certain areas of the application to certain roles; and 6) Store submitted PDF’s in database.
Direct Technology tested the environment; provided: user documentation, support after go live, BAS’s standard documentation (requirements/design/testing documentation), and knowledge transfer to LDC staff.
Direct Technology was engaged by DPR to evaluate ColdFusion installed on an aging Windows Server 2003 environment with the goal of migrating the applications to a new Windows Server environment and newer ColdFusion installation. We developed a test migration plan and documented all changes to the environment so DPR staff could work effectively with the implementation plan.
Direct Technology worked with DPR to perform the migration, as well as helping to migrate individual applications after the initial go live. Our engineer assisted in troubleshooting minor code related issues throughout the months following the bulk of the implementation, as well as folder permission issues after the migration.
Direct Technology worked with WSP USA to improve the speed and accuracy in addressing IT issues and reducing the backlog of service requests of the Authority. We provided recommendations on processes and procedures in ITIL Service Transition and ITIL Service Operations processes and procedures in addition to addressing the roles and responsibilities of key personnel within the Authority.
Our firm also provided recommendations on how to improve CA High-Speed Rail Authority's Service Desk, including ticket organization and training options. Finally, we helped to deliver a Recommendation Log of improvement opportunities in addition to the creation of a Knowledge Base.
